Reduce Waste to ZERO!

Zero waste is one way to eradicate or help the needs of our environment in terms of its problem. This idea or strategy greatly helps our environment especially when it comes to climate change, pollution, etc. Ideally, this type of strategy really is hard as we can think. This needs patience, discipline, care etc. This maybe hard but it’s worth it. There are so many landfills in every place of our planet, in every part of our very own country, and when I say many it is really too “many.” And this makes our very own home ugly. Underneath the makeup that’s been plastered on landfills lay toxins, greenhouse gases, and leachate – all of which present concerning threats to our planet. If we want to leave this planet for our future generations, it’s critical that we have a proactive recycling plan in place – whether that’s in the office, in your community, or in your home.
Believe it or not, our planet is full of garbages and waste that is really not good in the eye. These is the reason why there are various pollution and problems in terms of our surroundings. This somehow makes us to be irresponsible. When we cannot handle things and it produces different problems, maybe we can treat ourselves to be irresponsible. As humans who are able to think critically, we are ask to be responsible. Basically, we know what is right and wrong, what is good and bad. But the big question is, if we really knew about this, why is that we seem to be ignorant and irresponsible in terms of our waste. We should open our eyes to see the things that is happening to our surroundings, to our nation. Our waste, our trashes reflects our very own behavior and humanity as a whole.
‘Waste not, want not.’ Or so the saying goes. The problem is, we’re a nation of wanters, and considering the shocking statistics on our trash tendencies, we’re a nation of wasters, too! Check out these shocking facts on our (literally) rubbish habits.
  1. We bin around 50m tons of electrical waste globally every year. That’s nearly 4 million double decker buses worth of old computer equipment, TVs, stereos and kitchen appliances, stretching to the moon more than 3 times over! Learn more about preventing electrical waste.

  2. We throw away 7.2 million tons of food every year, and more than half of it’s perfectly edible. Meanwhile, 1 in 7 people across the world don't have enough to eat. Learn how to reduce your food wastage – and save up to £50 a month.

  3. Between 20% and 40% of fruit and vegetables are rejected by supermarkets before they even hit the shelves. Why? Because they don’t adhere to their cosmetic standards – they’re misshapen, lumpy or just plain weird-looking. But that’s how nature intended, right? Bypass the shops by growing your own.

  4. The amount of trash generated by the UK could fill Britain’s largest lake, Lake Windermere, in just 8 months.

  5. We used to get through 500 million plastic bags every week in the UK – amounting to billions of bags and thousands of tons of plastic. Sadly, each bag will take between 500 and 1,000 years to decompose in landfill. However, since the introduction of the 5p bag, usage has dropped by a staggering 85%. A win for Mother Earth.

  6. At Christmas, as much as 83 square kilometers of wrapping paper will end up in UK bins when it could have been recycled instead. That’s the same size as Sunderland!

  7. The most effective way for individuals to cut emissions, according to new research from Sweden and Canada, is possibly the most controversial: having fewer kids. Studies revealed anyone who decides to have one less child, in a developed country, will spare the planet another 58.6 tons worth of CO2!

  8. The number of disposable nappies each baby gets through weighs the same as a family car! Find out more about the environmental impact of disposable versus reusable nappies here.

  9. Humans now buy a million plastic bottles a minute. Most of this plastic ends up in the ocean. By 2050, the ocean will contain more plastic by weight than fish.
10. It’s not just what goes in the bin that counts as waste – water can be wasted, too. A single leaky tap in your house can waste as much as 5,000 liters of water a year. If we all fixed our dripping taps, we could supply 120,000 people with a day’s worth of water.
These facts maybe shocking, but these are facts. Believe it or not, these things are happening in our planet. These may be an eye opener for everyone, especially who will read about this. These are things that is happening in our planet today. The question is, what are we going to do?
As you can see, the facts about landfills and trash can be a bit scary. However, it is an area in which everyone can make a difference. The statistics above show a lot of important information, but some of the takeaways include:
  • Landfills create dangerous gasses and are an unpleasant addition to the community.
  • Paper and plastics that can be recycled are not being done so at the degree that they should be--recycling initiatives are helping, but the problem is not solved.
  • Waste reduction and composting are also significant ways to reduce the amount of waste put into the landfill.
We should see that in everything we do, we should always think of what will be good for our surroundings. We should act as an agent of change to our very own community. We can eradicate our problem with trash. Just believe! nothing is impossible especially if you do it for God and for his creation. We can eradicate all our problem with trash – zero waste management. Let’s start here.
Zero waste will benefit us a lot it will not only aid our problem with trash but will also open the gates to aid or give remedy to biggest problem in our environment. This will be an essential tool for environmental aid.

·                            ·         Zero waste reduces our climate impact.
·         Zero waste conserves resources and minimizes pollution.
·         Zero waste benefits our community.
·         Zero waste promotes social equity and builds community.
·         Zero waste benefits our economy.
·         Zero waste supports a local circular economy and creates job.

There are various benefits of zero waste management. It does not only benefit and aid our problem with our surroundings but it also gives remedy and benefit to our very own community and as well as to our economy. Again, its benefit does not only cover a short portion because zero waste management protects the environment, benefits communities, supports a strong local economy.
